Workshop Rolling Programme

Weekly workshops, running 10.30-12.30 (to fit in with 562 bus from Halifax - get off at the Alma) on Mondays, and 1900-2100 on Tuesdays. Please book via eventbrite.
The workshops are run at a local community venue, beautifully rural, with easy parking.
You are welcome to attend at any stage of pregnancy. The groups are limited in numbers so that each person has a chance to address their individual needs. There are a small number of spaces available free of charge for those with financial difficulties. Please only use these spaces in case of real need.

Week 1- Adjusting to a new rhythm ; Finding your way with a changing body.
Week 2- Thinking about birth; making plans; am I allowed?
(You may feel you want some individual guidance to create a birth plan to share with health professionals. Enquire with Susan for details and fees.)
Week 3- Thinking about birth; how labour works, how babies are born, what to expect and how to make it the best experience possible.
Week 4 - Fourth stage of labour; my new baby, changing family and relationship dynamics.

Watch this space for up-coming relaxation and use of sound; sessions to bliss you out and re-invigorate your soul!

Each session will also include practice, advice and guidance on relaxation techniques in such a way as to be helpful for pregnancy, birth and way beyond!

The sessions are both flexible, in order to accomodate the needs of small groups, and packed with good information. You will have plentiful opportunities to explore your hopes and fears, with a focus always on gaining the most positive experience throughout, and signposting to further information where needed.
As midwife-led workshops, you will be given support and information to explore evidence-based options, but also to benefit from a wealth of experience and birth stories to help facilitate your own story. Individual, specific midwifery queries may be answered, although in some cases it may be more appropriate to refer you back to your own midwife or obstetrician, or to suggest booking an individual consultation.
Some of the questions you may explore within the workshops include... Where shall I have my baby? How can I optimise my health for labour and birth? How can I help prevent aches, pains, nauseousness? What about our relationship? Sibling rivalry? Co-sleeping? Vaccinations in pregnancy? Am I allowed? What about induction of labour? Should I have a caesarean section? What about waterbirth? Syntometrine? Delayed cord clamping? How do I make my birth the best experience it can be? How best to be prepared for the new baby? Vitamin K? Expressing milk and planning a return to work?
